I was on my way to my favorite coffeeshop recentl
y and almost turned back to go lie down at home; I was so drained that day. Still, I walked up anyway. Then I got there and ran into two lovely ladies almost immediately. Candice was holding a little boy; she and Victoria both looked so vibrant, I had to say, “you two look like my kind of peoples!”
It turns out that they’ve both done their share of traveling studying healing arts, living foods, and Victoria has a corporate wellness company providing massage, coaching, and nutrition in San Diego so our eyes lit up talking to each other. I couldn’t help but think of Deepak Chopra‘s lecture on synchronicity back when I heard him in 2006 at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, and how certain people and events seem to be just waiting for you. This has happened to me repeatedly, you? Sometimes the people we’re meant to meet are right around the corner, and if we surrender to the moment, we are led to them.
Tonight Victoria had a little dinner party and I couldn’t believe she whipped up raw coconut curry soup, stuffed mushrooms, bruschetta overflowing with ripe tomatoes, and some delicious raw butternut squash dessert, all in just a few hours. All recipes are from Cafe Gratitude’s I am Grateful collection.

When I’m invited someplace new, I like to think about what there might be for me to learn in that situation and who I might be destined to meet there. That person at Victoria’s house was Linda, a core healing coach who helps you let go of old patterns, who showed up to join the party. Turns out she’s attended John Perkins’ workshop at Omega and loved the week she spent up there, especially hanging out with Staff (Why am I not surprised? the staff there definitely adds to the experience and I was one of them in 2002)
I told Linda about a few frustrating aspects in my current life and she reminded me that sometimes the path to our goals can consist of things that seem so windy and disjointed, when in fact it’s all a part of it. What do you think?
Anyway, check out the pretty food!
