A few crafty affairs are worth taking note of for the rest of the summer:
Workshop SF’s August calendar still has spots left for silkscreening, terrarium jar making, sewing, and even pie making.
The Renegade Crafts Fair is coming to town this weekend, created by a giant-Etsy-like marketplace in Chicago back in 2003. Expect clothing, jewelry, housewares, and tons of amazing other DIY goods.
Levi’s Workshops is temporarily here in its nationwide tour, close to one of its original headquarters from a hundred years ago. If you haven’t seen it yet, stop by 580 Valencia, close to 18th. Open every Sunday until late August, one can go in and learn about typesetting, screenprinting, or using a letterpress. You can make up to 20 free t-shirts with your own design, print your own cards, and get creative. But you need to stop by during the week to make an appointment. Levi’s “We are all workers,” campaign gets mixed reviews, when most of their jeans are made overseas and jobs at the workshops are temporary. It’s worth reading about it in a great Mission Local article.
