Beyonce's ethical extensions on Fashionista
This Friday I’m invited to a feather extension and wine drinking party, where they may even be some hooping involved- my kinda girlie get-together! But while I see the appeal for the the whole feather-in-hair look, as an animal lover . . . → Read More: Tinsel strands: an ethical alternative to feather extensions

SARK’s new book Glad No Matter What: Transforming Loss and Change into Gift and Opportunity is another joyful mix of inspirational, heartfelt, and often humorous memoirs, packed as always with hands-on tips and self-actualization action steps. This time the subject matter isn’t as cheery, but the tone is just as upbeat, hopeful, and delightful as Succulent . . . → Read More: Tools for transformation: SARK’s GLAD memoir

Since seeing this video recently, I was so touched I wanted to share it here before more time passed. You probably saw it either on YouTube, or the Ellen show. It’s Jorge Narvaez and his little daughter Alexa singing together out of their own home in San Diego. Their video has gotten over 6 million views . . . → Read More: Family + Community + Art + Music

Vanessa’s not only a talented chef, but an environmentally-conscious writer. Motivated by a trip back for a family reunion, Vanessa was touched by a longing to revive the “lost kitchen arts” she saw in her aunt’s home. She reconsidered buying appliances, yogurt in plastic containers, and packaged food altogether, embracing a complete “do it yourself” attitude towards creating delicious meals. . . . → Read More: Crafty, healthy, and eco-friendly recipes: enter to win Vanessa Barrington’s “DIY Delicious”

This woman has inspired so many people who are either going through a creative funk or feeling lost after getting laid off. Many of her followers also resonate with the turning-30-crisis that she faced when she began her project. Inspired by the movie “Julie and Julia,” her blog has grown to a following of almost 28,000 people. Not only is she creative, she’s also a witty writer. (Check out her “Little House on the Prairie” re-do above) I had the pleasure of speaking with her recently before she made it on TV in September. . . . → Read More: New Dress a day: frugal, green, and creative

So was she just going for controversial with the dress, matching handbags and even the shoes? I can’t imagine how it even smelled, poor Cher having to hug her! I wonder what Madonna thought, she never would have done something this pointless and disgusting; she seems past the “vanity thing at all costs” thing with her spiritual practice and transformation of recent years.
Her statement didn’t even make much sense to me. Why would she disrespect animals and vegetarians wearing meat if she’s speaking up for people’s rights? Why wear a butchered cow to make the statement she’s not a piece of meat? . . . → Read More: Creative or just disgusting?

Pretty fingers and toes deserve a summer treat after months cooped up in heavy boots and wooly mittens, right? I love polishing my nails before a trip to the beach or even just to celebrate sandal weather; what I don’t love, though, is mucking around with nasty chemical polishes and removers. The solution? Safe, snazzy and natural paints and polishes from conscious cosmetic companies like Peace Keepers, Honeybee Gardens. . . . → Read More: Safe, cruelty-free, water-based polish for sandal season
