Earth-friendly “Kind Diet” books

Here’s three new books on the environmental impact of how we raise and eat animals that look interesting.

Alicia Silverstone’s been busy promoting her new book across the U.S. explaining her journey towards veganism. This is a food-based book that provides recipes, but also a guide for people that want to make a transition to a plant-based diet.

Jonathan Safran Foer explores our culture’s relationship to eating animals as he faces fatherhood in a book that’s nothing like the novels he’s writen before. I’m looking forward to checking it out. This video of him right in Park Slope, where I lived when I worked for Meatless Monday, shows his more goofy, personal side as he explains the gist of the book.

Vegan chef Alex Jamieson’s new book comes out early December and can be pre-ordered here at a discount price. The author of the Great American Detox Diet and wife of Super Size Me’s Morgan Spurlock gives the ins and outs of living the vegan lifestyle: specifically what products to avoid, hidden bi-products, and goodies to add to your pantry.
