My approach & background
I’m a nutrition educator with a background in communications and marketing. I’ve always felt that what we eat determines so much of how we feel. And now more than ever, our food choices have the power to impact a shift towards a more sustainable planet. So much has been happening in the realm of food and green living in the U.S. and worldwide. Whether it’s starting to grow our own tomatoes, making dinner from scratch with local ingredients, or abstaining from using plastic bags at the grocery store, we can all be a part of the movement.
Delicious, whole foods have always inspired me. I’ve worked at some amazing food establishments including Juliano’s Raw, Roxanne’s, the Café at Omega Institute of Holistic Studies, Tempo in Brooklyn, and taken classes at Matthew Kenney’s The Plant.
My health coaching experience includes one on one counseling, cooking for coworkers and parties, teaching yoga, and leading weight management groups with Health Management Resources. I’m also a certified vinyasa yoga teacher and exercise instructor that has taught one-on-one and in large gyms. Lately I enjoy practicing most on grassy lawns or at the beautiful Laughing Lotus in San Francisco.
My experience in marketing and communications includes community building, co-writing and producing a video campaign on sustainable food with Free Range Studios; market research and promotions for healthy food brands like Tcho, Stonyfield Farms Yogurt, and Annie’s Homegrown. I’ve done marketing consulting for food brands like Navitas Naturals and account management for green startups like EcoTensil. I managed a healthy eating campaign in New York City in association with Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and the Eat Well Guide; and written for brands like Gaiam, MindBodyGreen, EcoSalon, Shareable Design, and Healthy Living NYC. I also produce videos. I’ve contributed to La Vida Locavore, one of the top ten sustainable food blogs according to the NY Times.
Education
I studied holistic health education and nutrition at San Francisco State University and the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, along with coursework in health communications at Tufts School of Medicine, UCSD’s Feature writing program and seminars at mediabistro.
